One of the biggest barriers to an individual success is unwillingness to change or in other words having a fixed mindset. “In a fixed mindset individuals believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that’s that, and then their goal becomes to look smart all the time and never look dumb.” (1)
In contrast the key to your success is having a growth mindset. “In a growth mindset individuals understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don’t necessarily think everyone’s the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it.” (2). Being open to practicing which means succeeding or failing in the moment, but always learning is clearly the key to success.
There are 2 challenges this book requires you to sign up for.
1. Be open minded. You have the ability to grow and improve.
Don’t say, I can’t do that or I’m not good at that” Because everyone can learn and grow, you just need to be willing to practice and grow.
2. Practice being consistent.
It’s hard to be consistent, but set yourself up for success. Take tiny steps to practice. If you make mistakes, don’t give up. You can’t just run a marathon without a consistently practice. So why would you think you could become a world-class leader overnight without practice.
Your success depends on understanding other people and yourself and how much that matters in the success of business and life.
